Class Information
Class cost includes all necessary materials and tools, including glass cutting equipment and use of kiln or instructor firing time (unless noted)
A large selection of stained and/or compatible glass is provided for students to use. Patterns are provided; students are also encouraged to use their own patterns and ideas.
Minimum age – 16 (unless noted)
Appropriate clothing is long pants and closed toe shoes. No open toe shoes please
No prior experience is required (unless noted)
Cancellation
Policy
Cancellations made 7 days prior to the first
day of class will receive a 100% refund.
Cancellations made 3 days prior to the first
day of class will be issued a 50% refund.
In the event GHD were to cancel a class
a full refund, for the class will be issued.
Liability
Students must be 18+ years of age
for all beadmaking classes.
For other classes students
under the age of 18 must have a parent or
legal guardian sign GHD's liability release
form. |

Jewelry

|
Explore the fun of fusing and
learn several styles of layering
and assembly of glass (including
dichroic) to make jewelry,
buttons, or other small pieces.
Projects are fused in classroom
kilns with hands on demos.
Expect to finish 6 – 8 pieces.
Several techniques for finishing
will be taught including using
many kinds of findings, hole
drilling, and notching for wire
wrapping.

Luminary

Special
guest instructor Sandy Lindhout
will guide you through the
process of hand dipping a
beautiful 100% beeswax luminary
and decorating it with dried
Michigan wildflowers. All
materials and supplies are
provided including a flameproof
votive holder and tealite
starter candle. Bring a hair
dryer for use in warming the
wax. Additional luminaries can
be made for $25 ea as time
permits.

The Basics &
Beyond

|
Beginning
to intermediate techniques will
be covered during this
comprehensive class. Learn how
to develop (successful) firing
schedules for different types,
sizes, and thicknesses of glass.
Projects include; 2 different
types of tiles, a slumped piece,
a drop out piece and a combed
(manipulated) piece. Techniques
for using accessory glass
(frit/stringers) and non-glass
inclusions (copper/mica); also
mold making and design will be
covered. This is a very hands on
class - the objective is that
every student (have fun) AND
take away the knowledge and
confidence to fuse glass in
their own studio.

This workshop will teach you the
technique of working with small
pieces of stained glass to
create a mosaic flowerpot,
serving tray or mirror. You will
learn basic glass cutting skills
and how to use grout and
colorants to create different
effects. All materials and tools
are supplied including several
patterns to choose from and a
wide assortment of stained
glass.

Plates / Bowls
|
This is a great introduction
to kiln forming glass, giving
you the opportunity to create a
beautiful 10" plate or bowl
using compatible glass, frit,
stringers, confetti, and other
inclusions. Kiln forming basics
– how glass changes during the
fusing process, mold materials
and operation of a kiln will
combine with demonstrations and
hands on activity. Plates will
be fired and slumped by the
instructor and be ready for
pickup in a week.

The
studio is open every
Wednesday evening for “Open
Studio Night”. No
pre-registration or sign up is
required. Plan to spend
about 1 hour in the studio.
All glass is precut so no glass
cutting is required. Use
accessory glasses including
stringers (spaghetti-like glass
strings) and frit (crushed bits
of glass) and other fun things
to decorate your piece(s).
Samples are available for
inspiration. Cost includes
all glass and kiln firings.
